Chamber Made Opera is the only Australian company exclusively committed to the creation and presentation of original, experimental chamber operas. Since 1988 the company has been recognised for continually challenging the artform, bringing together outstanding creative teams, being unbound by convention, and taking inspired artistic risks.

New works in repertoire

Chamber Made Opera’s core activity is the creation of new works, commissioning exceptional artists and developing a new Australian repertoire in experimental opera.

Little Operations

The company’s development arm ‘Little Operations’ offers emerging and established independent artists the opportunity to seed and nurture new ideas and projects.

Agile Opera

Underpinning our vision and informing its evolution is a philosophy of research and development that pushes Chamber Made Opera’s artworks into the digital realm. How can we maximize engagement with audiences and replicate the intimacy of chamber opera in a digital/virtual environment? An ARC Linkage Project ‘Agile Opera: chamber opera in a new era’ is under way with RMIT, Fed Square and AusCo to find operational and dramaturgical models that respond to this question.

The Venny

Chamber Made Opera’s community access program, currently run in partnership with The Venny Adventure Playground (Kensington, Melbourne), creates the perfect context to introduce young minds to the wonders of contemporary performance and music-making, whilst celebrating the diverse stories of their community.
