A national initiative by Chamber Made Opera and Victorian Opera.

NEW OPERA VENTURES AUSTRALIA (NOVA) is calling for scores, concepts and submissions to be considered for inclusion in a series of readings of new opera and music theatre works in 2012. Proposals may be in the form of a score, script or detailed concept, for a new opera, music theatre work, cross artform work or theatre work and must have a strong foundation in sound or music.

NOVA aims to unearth young, emerging and under-represented composers and music theatre makers from around Australia.

The work will be assessed by an industry panel including Chamber Made Opera's Artistic Director, David Young and Victorian Opera's Music Director, Richard Gill. The panel will meet in December to read and listen to all the submission, and create a shortlist to workshop in 2012.

Chamber Made Opera and Victorian Opera are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations. To this, we only accept proposals in electronic format. Physical copies sent to either organisation will be returned to sender.
